Years in TKD:
9+ years!!

Why I started TKD:
I always wanted to do Martial Arts. I thought that it would be cool to be as physically fit as the fellows that were in the movies. Life being what it is I never found the time to pursue my; interest in the martial arts. When I was thirty four years old I got a job in corrections. Being 5 feet 9 inches tall working in a maximum security institution with all types of folks I thought that it may be a good time to start my martial arts studies. I met Mr. Larry Bieghler and took a few classes. I was hooked from there.

Best TKD moment:
-
Earning my 1 st Dan Black Belt with Mr. Mike Glencross at my side
- Earning my 2 nd Dan Black Belt with Mr. Mike Glencross.
- Winning metals both sparring and power breaking at tournaments around the great state of Washington
- Watching the young / new black belts come from a white belt to a black belt and knowing that I had a least a small part in that.

Worst TKD moment:
I would like to echo Mr. Glencross's opinion of the "politics" of martial arts. I believe that it is important to stay above that.

Favorite aspect of TKD:
I am a "hands-on" self defense kind of guy. Ho Sin Sul (grappling, self defense) is by far my favorite with power breaking pulling a close second.

Least favorite aspect of TKD:
I started TKD at 34 years old, I am now 43 and I cant jump like the youngsters. (But I sure like helping them get there.)

Advice for new students:
Keep on working at it. Life is full of, all kinds of things. Be patient and you will attain your goals. Find a school that you can respect and that will respect you. That is the one that will surround you with successful people. If I can do it, you can do it.

Advice for old students:
Like Mr. Glencross I also have been to Grand Master Sereff's seminars. I found them to be very impacting, not only the way I see TKD but life in general. I found a great sense of respect there. I believe that if you show respect you will receive respect. I advise that you look at yourself in the mirror each morning, if you see someone you respect then you are doing well.
