Youth Program
Our youth program is a balanced curriculum of Fitness, Martial Arts and Personal Protection Systems. While many schools are teaching Mixed Martial Arts, Traditional Martial Arts, Sport oriented Martial Arts, Child Care oriented Martial Arts programs, etc. Centerlines' youth program has always focused on fun Martial Arts with practical Personal Protection Systems along with a fun, challenging fitness workout.
Fitness - Our youth program is designed for boys and girls ages 8 an up. Our workouts are very physically demanding but at the same time each student does what he or she can do... in other words if a child can't do a bunch of push-ups, leg lifts, pull-ups, lunges, touch their toes, etc. he or she is encouraged to do what he or she can and naturally they will push themselves to try to keep up with the group as best as they can. Over time they will experience increased strength, cardio, balance, flexibility , coordination, etc. The fitness aspect of our youth program consists of everything from push-ups and crunches to challenging calisthenics such as "up-downs and gut-busters".
Martial Arts - Obviously the foundation of our program is built around the Martial Arts, specifically ITF Taekwon-Do. ITF Taekwon-Do is the original Taekwon-Do as created by General Choi Hong Hi of the South Korean Army after World War II and the liberation of Korea. ITF is known as a Military Martial Art with practical application of modern techniques built around modern physics and biology. Our Martial Arts training will build discipline, confidence, focus, and much, much more.
Personal Protection Systems - We have incorporated modern Personal Protection Systems into our youth program to help our kids be aware of the dangers of the real world. All Martial Arts styles are designed to teach students the many aspects of self-defense but our instructors believe that our training must be flexible and adaptable in order to provide us the best chance of successfully dealing with a confrontation if the situation ever arose.
Nothing is more important to our Instructors than child safety. Hopefully our kids will never be confronted with criminal violence such as abduction or assault but it is our job to teach our kids how to react if they find themselves in a dangerous situation. We have incorporated systems such as "break and run", "trust your gut", "stranger danger", and other training methods to help give our kids the best chance of escape.
